I lead groups that study the relationship between creativity and spirituality. Using Julia Cameron's book, The Artist's Way as a springboard, we address the societal and personal barriers that exist to prevent us from becoming the fully realized creative people that God wants us to be. The first hour of each class is discussion within the group and the second hour consists of a meditative creative activity that is totally process oriented. The outcome of these studies is a renewed spiritual depth and awareness of the fulfillment that can be attained by listening to the voice of the Great Creator and following our own unique path to become all that we are meant to be. Classes in drawing and painting and figure drawing and painting happen when they happen, usually in my studio in Tucker, GA. Contact me and I will let you know what is ongoing and what is forthcoming. I also lead workshops in spirituality and creativity. The next one will be a daylong Artists' Retreat at Cedar Hill Enrichment Center, Gainesville, GA on Saturday, Oct. 18. We will begin the day discussing and exploring the agonies and ecstasies of being a creative person in today’s culture. Following a delicious vegetarian lunch, there will be a time of directed meditative art. Also incorporated into the day will be alone time for journaling, walking the Labyrinth, or just being with nature along the wooded stream. To register, go to www.cedarhillenrichment.org
In April, 2009, I will be leading a figure drawing class at the Arts and Sabbeth Retreat in Montreat, NC. This course will offer participants an opportunity to draw the human figure using a live, clothed model. Learning about dimensions, ratio and gesture, we will practice drawing skills as well as spend time creating full compositions. The human figure is beautiful, wondrously made and endlessly intriguing. This will be an ideal time for beginners who want to find out what figure drawing is all about as well as seasoned figurative artists who will enjoy the opportunity to draw from a live model. For information, go to www.montreat.org and look for the Spring Arts and Sabbath Retreat. |
